Hi! I’m Heather and I love running!
I ran my first 5k in 2006 and spent the next few years occasionally hopping on the treadmill at the gym. I didn’t love running (yet) but felt that I needed it to stay in shape. By 2011 I was tired of repeatedly having to start over and decided to try Couch to 5k. My goal was to complete the 8 week program and just keep running. It must have worked because I haven’t stopped running since.
In 2013 the idea to start a blog was born. Between work and training for my first half marathon I was busy planning a wedding and honeymoon with my fiance, Kendall. When I discovered that there would be a 5k in Hawaii during our honeymoon, I just had to run it! Fortunately convincing my future husband that this was a good idea was easy. In fact he is the one that suggested we take it a step further and try to run a race in every state by our 50th anniversary.
I started a blog called “The Shoes Run 50” in 2014 (Shoes being an abbreviation of our last name). After two years I realized that the blog was almost completely about my running and only included the occasional mention of our 50 states challenge. With this in mind I made the move to Probably Running, but we’re still working towards our goal to race in 50 states by our 50th anniversary.
